If you've noticed chirping or clunking when you take off in your rear-wheel drive vehicle, especially when accompanied by vibration at highway speeds, it's time to have your universal joint (U-joint) checked.  Over time the U-joint bolts can wear, causing vibration from a loose or unbalanced part. If the u joint breaks, the result will likely be extensive damage to the driveshaft and surrounding drivetrain parts, causing pricey repairs. Any vibration at high speeds is a red flag that should be checked immediately.
